So, how many Aardvarks is too many?


Back in the 1980s Citadel Miniatures/Games Workshop brought out a range of minis called Weird Fantasy or WF for short. This was a small range of unusual figures, a dwarf on stilts, a spaced out druid and others. The range also had Aardvarks. Obviously based on the Cerebus the Aardvark graphic novels by Dave Sim. More about Cerebus here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerebus_the_Aardvark

Several poses were offered in the range including:

  • Aggressive Aardvark with a sword.
  • Aardvark Berserker with an axe.
  • Aardvark Wizard.
  • Angus the Aardvark with a Kilt and Claymore.
  • And the Aardvark Adventurer with Pistol and Whip that was never officially released.

Rumour is that the Aardvarks were removed from sale after a cease and desist letter from Dave Sim's Lawyers.

The Aardvarks can be found on ebay from time to time and usually go for around £30 (£50+ for the Aardvark Adventurer).

I have collected quite a few over the years. The only problem I find is that the Aardvark Berserker's Axe head often breaks off. I have replaced a couple with swords, and just left others as sticks!

I could probably make a few units up for a Dragon Rampant game!

 Doom This is for the original Doom boardgame (2004) by Fantasy Flight Games and not the revised Doom boardgame (2016) also by Fantasy Flight Games. This game is similar to Descent.  All I had to make were Doors and Room and Corridor floors. I used the Hirst Arts Sci-Fi Moulds 270-273 for the floors and 301, 302 for the walls/doors. Age of Sail Model Ships

 Various Figures for Age of Sail Wargaming I have various figures for my Age of Sail Wargames.  Some of them are cheap and cheerful, others are expensive works of art.  I have reviewed them for anyone wanting to know what they are like. Navwar Navwar 110, 74 and 38 mounted on card bases Navwar was started in the 1970's to provide affordable ship models for war gamers and that’s exactly what they do. For the price of one of the more expensive manufacturers models you can have 3 or 4 of these.  The ships are cast in a soft white metal and are supplied as a complete kit. Hull, Masts with sails, Bowsprit sail, Driver and ships boats.  They paint up fairly easily and can be rigged enough to look the part. Dr Who Miniatures

 I had a good friend, Stuart, with whom I played the Doctor Who Miniatures wargame.  We both collected various Dr Who figures and pitted them against each other across various Alien landscapes.  Sadly he died of Cancer.  I inherited his figures and I have integrated them into my collection.  We both had a lot of figures by a company called Black Tree Design.  So in his honour I have decided to collect their entire Doctor Who range. Between us we had a lot of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Doctor miniatures.  So I began buying 1st and 2nd Doctor minis to fill in the gaps and work forwards until I collected the set. I am storing the figures in A4 Decopatch boxes held in by foam. Box 1 The first box contains most of the 1st Doctor's Figures.
